I came home last night to a dead modem. It seems to be getting power, but no signal from the phone. The "help" desk at earthlink was no help at all--I spent more time dealing with the language barrier than my actual problem. I'm concerned that it's a problem with the phone line, which might end up being a pain in the ass. The guy last night said that it was impossible to have a DSL line without having in-home voice phone service, which is obviously not because I've been on cell service only at home for the last two years. But that said, I do wonder whether Verizon did something to the line. I need to talk to someone at earthlink who actually understands what I'm saying…hopefully I can get someone tonight who'll understand english.
At any rate, if you don't hear from me for a few days, that's why.
