The Flash: Leonard - Reindeer Mug

Still in MKE

We had a nice Hanukkah party Sunday night. My step-mom made her usual yummy brisket and latkes.

Here is the majority of my haul. I also got a picture my step-sister made, a calendar and an Amazon gift card. My step-mom also made a gorgeous, colorful scarf.

Yesterday we walked over the shopping street a few blocks away and after a stop at Starbucks, wandered around the independent bookstore. They have a fun way of naming the sections.

I picked up copies of the first thee books in the Miss Peregrine series for $7.99 each.

In the afternoon we went to see Rogue One. I liked it much more than I expected to. Without being spoilery, I really liked how it fit into the overall saga. After the movie I got my Rocky Rocco's pizza fix.

Today we're going to an art museum that features Wisconsin artists. The featured artist does photo-realism paintings.

Fun visit

I had a really nice visit with snogged today. We met up halfway between her home and my dad's house to see the movie Sing and then we had lunch at Culver's. The movie was cute and heartwarming. We exchanged presents over lunch. I'm excited to read the book she gave me: Heartless by Marisa Meyer.

I've gotten my parents hooked on This is Us. Last night I insisted that they watch the first episode On Demand because they weren't watching it. We then watched three more. They'll be all caught up by the end of the weekend. :)

Tomorrow I will make my grandmother's Sour Cream Cookies.

I hope everyone is having a good pre-holiday week.

Footsteps pounded behind Leonard Snart as he ran down the dark, barely shoveled sidewalks until he came to an alley. He ducked down it, collapsing against the wall to catch his breath. Moments later his partner, Erik, entered the alley and collapsed against the opposite wall, police sirens echoing in the distance.

"I can't believe we got away," Erik said, grinning.

"Never doubted it," Leonard drawled, straightening up and listening as the sirens drew farther away from them. He nodded in satisfaction. "Hand it over."

"Here's the thing," Erik said, slowly. "I've decided to keep it for myself."

Leonard's hand went to grab his gun, but it wasn't there. His shock must have registered on his face as Erik lifted two guns and pointed them at Leonard.

"This was my heist," Leonard snarled, starting to take a step forward, but halted by the sound of both guns being cocked.

"And now it's my loot," Erik said, smirking. He began to back out of the alley.

"You'll pay for this," Leonard growled, following him with his eyes.

"What are you going to do, call the cops on me?" Erik asked, laughing.

"Nobody double crosses me and lives to tell the tale," Leonard growled.

"Too bad you won't be alive to hear me tell it," Erik said and pulled the triggers on both guns.

The first bullet struck Leonard in his left calf as he turned to dive out of the way and the second one struck him in the right shoulder. He fell onto his back, striking his head against the pavement, and crying out as the pain seared through him.

The last thing he heard before blacking out was the sound of Erik running away.

My Wish List 2016

Just realized I hadn't done this yet this year.

Step One

- Make a post (public, friendslocked, filtered...whatever you're comfortable with) to your LJ. The post should contain your list of 10 holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple and fandom-related ("I'd love a Snape/Hermione icon that's just for me") to medium ("I wish for _____ on DVD") to really big ("All I want for Christmas is a new car/computer/house/TV.") The important thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.

- If you wish for real life things (not fics or icons), make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where Santa (or one of his elves) could get in touch with you.

- Also, make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your LJ, so that the holiday joy will spread.

Step Two

- Surf around your friendslist (or friendsfriends, or just random journals) to see who has posted their list. And now here's the important part:

- If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Sometimes someone's trash is another's treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don't want or a gift certificate you won't use--or even know where you could get someone's dream purebred Basset Hound for free--do it.

You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf--to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not--it's your call.

There are no rules with this project, no guarantees, and no strings attached. Just...wish, and it might come true. Give, and you might receive. And you'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.

Holiday Card Sign-Up

If anyone would like a holiday card from me, please leave your full address in a (screened) comment. Or, you can email it to dragonydreams at yahoo.com with a subject line of Holiday Card.

I am happy to send cards internationally, so don't let that stop you from requesting one. I usually send non-holiday-specific cards as I'm Jewish and a lot of my friends don't celebrate Christmas either, but I do have some that say Christmas, so let me know if you have a preference.

If I missed anyone's sign-ups, please leave me a link to it, because I love receiving cards almost as much as I love sending them. Or if I've given you my address in the past, just know that I'd love one (I haven't moved in 10+ years, so it's still my current address).

After turning Turnball over to the authorities and collecting his bounty, Jonah couldn't wait to get back to his homestead. Back to a life that made sense. One without time travelers.

"Welcome home," a warmly accented voice said from the door of the barn where Jonah was brushing down his horse.

He smiled to himself as he mentally amended that he'd returned to his life with one particular time traveler.

"Like hearing you say that," Jonah said, turning to face Rip.

"Are you sure that we should be down here?" Leonard asked as he, Sara, and Mick rode down in the elevator to the Arrow's headquarters.

"You're good guys now," Sara said, ignoring Mick's snort of disagreement. "It'll be fine. Besides, I'm not letting you two out of my sight for the foreseeable future. Not after Ray."

Mick, who was surprisingly the more socially tactile of her lovers, gave her shoulder a comforting squeeze.

The entire team was still raw after Ray had sacrificed himself at the Oculus wellspring. Mick had tried to take his place, but Ray had been adamant that this was his life's purpose: to die a hero.

"Hello?" Sara called out as the elevator doors opened. "Hello?"

Mick stood at the door to the library, a six pack of bottled beer in one hand and knocked on the open door with the other.

"You know you don't have to knock," Sara said, turning away from the screen on the wall. "This is a common area, after all."

Mick huffed his acknowledgement, entering and setting the beer on the desk before pulling one out, opening it, and handing it to Sara before taking his own.

"I think I made a mistake," Mick said, settling into one of the chairs and taking a pull from his beer.

"So," Mick drawled before taking a sip from his beer bottle, "if you're from Africa, why don't you have an accent?"

"I beg your pardon?" Amaya retorted, straightening defensively.

"Didn't think you were the begging type," Mick countered. "And you heard me."

Amaya resisted the urge to fidget, as Mick had unknowingly struck a nerve with his careless question.

Home

I got home from Sicily last night. It was a fantastic trip. It's a gorgeous country with such a rich (and violent) history. I hadn't realized that so many Greek myths were tied to Sicily. It was really cool seeing sites that related to stories I was familiar with. (A lot of Homer's Odyssey took place around Sicily.)

I'll post my photos and travelogue later, but I'll tell you one story now: Read more...Collapse )

I'm slowly catching up on my TV shows and LJ. Feel free to leave me a link if you want to make sure I don't miss something.
